When the sugar cane fields of Kwazulu Natal become a dumping ground for a vicious serial killer, police are playing catch-up in a terrifying game of life and death. For every move the killer makes, the police seem to be two steps behind him, and the victim count is growing.
The killer apparently lured his victims to the sugarcane fields fields of Mount Edgecombe, near Phoenix in Durban.
Sipho Mandla Agmatir Thwala is a South African rapist and serial killer who was convicted in 1999 for the murders of 16 women and 10 rapes. He was sentenced to 506 years in prison. Thwala was known by the moniker the Phoenix Strangler or the Canefileds Killer.
