Daisy de Melker was South Africa’s first female serial killer. She was born Daisy Louisa Hancorn-Smith in 1886 to William and Fanny Hancorn-Smith in Grahamstown.Today’s episode obviously takes us back in history, almost 100 years in fact to the 1930s. The fact that so many people still show interest in such an old case is down to Daisy De Melker’s legend I think. Daisy became an icon of an evil woman. In a time when it was almost unheard of for a woman to be a murderer, Daisy took it to a new level.
