Marie Ostbo, a Norwegian student, was 21 years old when she disappeared while on holiday in South Africa. Marie has now been missing for more than a year and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance seem to get murkier every day. This is Marie’s story.
Marie is extremely well-travelled having spent time in London, Morocco, Andorra, Greece and of course her homeland of Norway and study home of France. She is, no doubt, seasoned in the risks of travelling to unknown destinations. Had she been an inexperienced youngster on her first trip away from the safety net of home, the events that followed may have been vaguely explicable, at the very least in terms of the many ways an inexperienced tourist can find themselves in risky situations. This was not the case with Marie but the stamps in her passport did not protect her from what would befall her on her first visit to South Africa.
