Spotlight Minisode 30

In today’s spotlight minisode we explore three cases that are in the media right now: the murder of Yolandi Botes, the murder of Naadira Vanker, and the ongoing trial of serial murderer and rapist, Xolani Sojada.

Yolandi Botes

Yoladndi Botes went missing on April 26 after calling an e-hailing service vehicle at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport. She had travelled from George to Gauteng. Free State police later confirmed that Botes’s body parts were found in the Vaal River next to Villiers.

Naadira Vanker

Naadira Vanker prepared hot meals for the man who is accused of allegedly kidnapping and killing her. Vanker, 31, a teacher at Progress Primary School in Lenasia, was abducted from her home by two men on April 22 during an alleged robbery. Vanker’s body was found in a shallow grave after it was reported that she was abducted from her home.

Xolisa Sojada

Xolisa Sojada, who found his victims through a Facebook page under a false name, seen at the Mthatha court precinct. He has pleaded guilty to three murders. He found his victims through his fake Facebook page under the name Neo Jerry.
