The Murder of Nandi Mbizane Episode 137

When 27-year-old Nandi Mbizane disappeared from her townhouse in 2012, the two main suspects were her current and ex partners. Both men had a story to tell, but the evidence would support only one of those versions.

When she went missing, 27 year old Nandi, who graduated at the University of KZN with a BCom degree in finance and economics and has an honours degree in economics, was a second-year LLB student at Unisa and had recently bought property for herself.

She had been working for a business consultant company in Joburg since 2009.

Zwelibanzi Kidwell Zungu, 30, handed himself over to the Hawks at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court in the presence of his attorney, after he saw his picture in the media last week. A reward of R50 000 was offered to any member of the public who could come up with information that would lead to his capture.

Nandi Mbizane’s body was never found. The former boyfriend of Nandi Mbizane, who disappeared from her Centurion townhouse without a trace , was sentenced to life imprisonment for her murder, even though her body was never found.
Sentencing Zwelibanzi Zungu, 33, a businessman of Vosloorus for the March 2012 murder, Judge Selby Baqwa said even though Mbizane’s body was never recovered, it was quite apparent from the evidence that the way in which her life was ended had been vicious.
