In Part 2 of our coverage of the Waterkloof 4 case, we discuss some glaring inconsistencies in the evidence and ask the question – was justice really done?
Let’s recap: On the 3rd of December 2001, the body of an identified man was found in Moreleta Park. 18 months later, a teenager would confess to his teacher that he and six of his friends had been keeping a deadly secret.
The four are: Christoff Becker, Frikkie du Preez, Gert van Schalkwyk and Reinach Tiedt. Three of them were pupils of Hoerskool Waterkloof, while Becker attended the Hoerskool Garsfontien. They were found guilty and sentenced for the murder of an unidentified homeless man. They were also convicted on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
